Sun-Arc Design, what's in a name?
Sun-Arc refers to some basic ideas of passive solar architecture. These are ideas which were used by cultures as diverse as the ancient Greeks and the Anasazi in North America. These cultures observed that The Sun follows a different path depending upon the season. The sun rises to a higher zenith angle in the Summer which allows for more effective shading in the warmest months, just when we need it most. In the Winter, The Sun attains a lower angle, shading devices which were effective in the Summer now allow direct sunlight to penetrate and warm the building. Pretty slick.
The Arc in Sun-Arc also refers to Architecture. So, Sun-Arc = Solar Architecture.
